CURRENT - The Covers
2004 - 2007

From sometime in 2004 (it was all a blur) to Feb 2007 I was involved with Newfoundland's alternative newspaper, CURRENT. Among other things, I had the pleasure of shooting a lot of their cover images ...something CURRENT certainly did different than any other publication in the Newfoundland market. Generally, there were no rules. As photography the images crossed and blurred many lines and genre. Often it became illustrated news borrowing from photojournalism, commercial photography, portraiture, fashion, advertising, contemporary art history and at times editorial cartoon. Indeed, much of CURRENT's photography, either on the cover or inside, was photographic editorial cartoons. The challenge was bringing together all these genre and their seperate associated skills into one image that communicated the concept. Here are a selection of 20 of those covers.
